Sometimes copywriters aren't necessarily the best writers. I'm not one of those types. I love writing as much as ideation. And I actually like long copy!

Writing was my first love, and continues to woo me on a daily basis. I've blogged both professionally and personally for 10 years. In addition, I've worked as a copywriter producing everything from email blasts for Nestle Crunch to radio spots for Burger King to B2B long-copy pieces about animal biosafety.

I can write creatively and engagingly about anything. Try me. I dare you.

The 5 Browns: From Stage to Runway

If the talk of NYC’s 2009 Fall Fashion Week was indie-darling Zac Posen’s gorgeously feminine collection, then the sound of Fashion Week was undoubtedly The 5 Browns.

Tapped by New York–bred fashion icon Posen to accompany his lush, neo-Victorian fall 2009 lineup, by Fashion Week’s end these classical insiders added another role to their rapidly growing C.V.—fashion insiders.

No strangers to the classical circuit (their 2005 debut album propelled them to the top of the Billboard classical chart), this collaboration between haute couture and haute musique thrust The 5 Browns into an unfamiliar limelight.

This Juilliard-trained troupe of piano virtuosos dazzled fashionistas and the press with the original, complex compositions for which they have become famous. While models waltzed down the runway in Posen’s signature romantic creations, these sibling piano stars pounded out masterful arpeggios and passionate runs in their usual, nonpareil quintet.

Rich taffetas and raw silks, swimming ruffles and full collars—an overall notion of feminine luxury was the leitmotif of Posen’s show. This new-meets-old fashion mentality was a perfect pairing to the oeuvre of The 5 Browns—who in their twenties have come to epitomize freshness and energy, but who have earned their stripes through their lovely interpretations of classical standards.

Considering the highbrow and elite vibe of Posen’s work and his show (among his devotees are Claire Danes, Beyoncé Knowles, and Natalie Portman), it’s worth noting how approachable, even humble, these five siblings were in the midst of the glamour.

With Gregory and Ryan Brown dressed in Posen’s slim-fit black tuxedos and sisters Melody, Deondra, and Desirae dripping in the asymmetrical, tactilely dramatic evening wear that has characterized Posen’s work, The 5 Browns were still grinning in an awestruck, “I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening” way. In spite of any excitement or fashion-newbie jitters, by the night’s end, The 5 Browns and Posen’s pieces were applauded with equal crescendo.

Get a glimpse of The 5 Browns and their world-famous repertoire in a new, behind-the-scenes concert special, The 5 Browns: In Concert. Check your local PBS station for airdates. For more information about The 5 Browns, visit kbyueleven.org/the5browns.

THE 5 BROWNS: IN CONCERT. BEHIND-THE-SCENES
WITH THE PIANO PRODIGY QUINTET.

10 Hands. 440 Keys. 1 Extraordinary Night.

If you think one piano virtuoso is fun to listen to, wait till you hear five of them playing simultaneously. Starting this March on KBYU-Eleven, not only can you hear the amazing sound of five pianos at once, you can also witness the energy and excitement The 5 Browns bring to their international fan base of thousands.

This hour-long concert special goes backstage with The 5 Browns and showcases their sold-out performance at Tuacahn Amphitheatre, a beautiful outdoor venue nestled in the red rocks of southern Utah. Let yourself get swept up in the excitement of this young, passionate quintet as they take the stage and play Rhapsody in Blue, “Flight of the Bumblebee,” Clair de Lune, and other classics. See exclusive interviews with the five siblings—Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae—all Juilliard-trained piano prodigies, all committed to bringing classical music to a new generation of listeners.

In addition to capturing exclusive interviews, this music special includes up-close-and-personal concert footage and the music Entertainment Weekly calls “otherworldly.”

These hip up-and-comers continue to gain national acclaim for their sold-out quintet performances of their takes on classical piano standards. From The Jay Leno Show to The Martha Stewart Show, to the New York Times and NYC’s Fashion Week, this piano act is the best possible redefinition of “family band.”

The 5 Browns: In Concert introduces you to the fresh, outgoing personalities of the siblings and lets you see—and hear—classical music in a way you never have before.

LEISURE CARDS
The humanist approach to business cards
When my husband and I moved into a new neighborhood following our wedding, we vowed to do what we hadn't during the social exclusivity of our single days - actually get to know our neighbors. We passed these out to happily surprised block members. We have enjoyed getting to know our "analog neighbors" in this digital community age.

We have already had dinner with one of the couples on our block.

<description>Classical 89 is a radio station located in Provo, Utah. The station manager wanted to do something special to celebrate their 50th Anniversary of broadcasting. In particular, they wanted to stress the idea that their best years were still ahead of them.

I gave them the tagline Fifty is the New Forte.
Everything else just wrote itself from there.

TV spots coming soon.

Winner of a 2010 Davey for Integrated Ad Campaign.

<description>The Razr 2 phone made its debut into the tech world as the thinnest phone ever. So thin, in fact, that these smartphones could be confused with weaponry. Posters featuring samurai-type warriors touted this feature, summed up nicely by the tagline "sharper than ever."

To introduce this phone to a NYC audience, we concepted some very fun outdoor/non-traditional ways to make our mark (literally in some cases), including a clever use of Craigslist.

<description>This animated banner campaign is the ad campaign I'm the most proud of.

Not because it's award winning. Not because it has ground-breaking design. But because the box I had to work within was about the size of a pixel.

Try writing something about "business efficiency" software when your audience is government employees. Talk about niche. This campaign was nichetastic.

I struggled every night for about a week trying to come up with one headline. In the end, my hard work paid off. I came up with three.

I rewarded myself with a slice of chocolate cake from Max Brenner, which is probably the best confectioner in NYC.
